About

My name is Rosana Hart, and I’m the creator and worker bee here. I’ve been doing page layout since I was about 12, which is long before computers and the internet. Once those came along, my husband Kelly and I were early adopters and we’ve been online ever since. Here’s a list of my websites… on the first website I ever did.

I’ve been praying since I was a child, rather to the dismay of the atheists in my family, but I took after the Episcopalian side… and that’s the denomination I now belong to myself. I was a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) for some years but now I am at home in the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Silver City, New Mexico. I respect all faiths and believe that God speaks to everyone in whatever ways the person can receive. For example, my mother was a member of no religion and one of the atheists in my family,  but walks in the woods behind our house were my first introductions to the uplifting power of the love of nature.

Prayer works… not always in the ways that we want it to, but the power of prayer has become clearer and clearer to me over the years, and that’s why I’m happy to be working on this website. I’ll be telling some stories of my experiences, like the time my husband fell off the roof of a house in Mexico.

My Prayer Books

I am working on a prayer coloring book based on the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi, and as soon as it’s done, it will be available on this site and elsewhere. I have several other ideas for coloring books too… I think the Psalms will be my next inspiration. Here’s my collection of pins about Psalms on Pinterest. I’m not an artist but I’ve worked with typography and design and that’s why my coloring books are word-based.

I’m also working on a series of Prayer Journals of various kinds, drawing on my book design experience. I love journaling in all its forms and you’ll see that here. I used to teach time management courses, and I saw repeatedly that people who write things down get more done and stick with their projects more easily than people who don’t.

In Praise of Other People’s Prayer Books

I will be adding books about how to pray, memoirs about prayer, coloring books, and prayer journals written by others. My work background has been primarily as a librarian, so I love to share books I like. Many of the ones I  will share on this site will be from Amazon.com, but I will also explore other sources.

About the Artwork at ColorfulPrayer.com

I use the art of other people when they freely make it available to be used. In some cases, I place it directly on webpages, mugs, or journals and in other cases I combine with my own additions, using Photoshop Elements.

One artist I want to give a particular shoutout to is John Hain. That link goes to about a thousand of his works of art which are free to use.
